Recovery and Restlessness - Feb 2023 Recap
Welcome, readers, to the February 2023 recap! As we navigate the twists and turns of life, this month presented its own set of challenges and triumphs. While recovering from my thumb injury has certainly posed its obstacles, it's also been a testament to resilience and adaptability. In this post, I'm excited to update you on my recovery and creativity that has unfolded over the past month. From testing the possibilities of one-handed woodworking to completing a series of projects, join me for this quick recap post highlighting the power of perseverance in the face of adversity.
As I continue on this journey of reflection and progress, I'm pleased to share an update on the recovery of the thumb injury that marked the beginning of last year. After being fitted for a hard plastic cover to shield my thumb from bumps and further injury, I was happy that the healing process was well underway. With each passing day, I noticed a gradual reduction in discomfort, allowing me to gradually taper off prescription pain medication in favor of over-the-counter options. Coupled with adherence to physiotherapy exercises, aimed at promoting proper nerve ending healing and restoring full sensation, I felt optimistic about the trajectory of my recovery.
With the restlessness of sitting around recovering growing and not having any ideas on how to go back to fencing one handed. I turned to my hobby to get me back to creating again. Woodworking with just one hand was initially daunting, yet it quickly became a testament to creativity and adaptability. Despite the challenge, I embraced the opportunity to explore the possibilities of one-handed craftsmanship. From carefully maneuvering tools to reimagining traditional techniques, I found innovative ways to turn out a few small present for friends and loved ones. Including the wall hanging from last post for my niece's nursery, a flower pot for a friends nephew, a jarrah and pine table top to replace the old melamine one for my friends over bed table, and a serving tray of which I can only find photos of the handle.
I hope you are enjoying this look back on what was 2023 and look forward to being caught up to current day to update you all as we go through whatever comes next in life.
