Fencing, Family and Four Letter Words - Jan 2023 Recap
2023 sure began with some dramas. Starting with finishing off installing the sheets in Welshpool after the builders paving went down over the break. My younger brother and his beautiful wife experienced the wonders of child birth in the early hours of January 2023. We were all absolutely ecstatic to welcome into the world a new member of the Rowley family.
After an afternoon visit to Armadale Hospital to meet the my niece and a stop off at their house to walk and feed the dogs, it was home to work on building a frame and backing for a wall sticker for the baby’s nursery that they preferred was removable rather than stuck directly on the walls.
While working away in the garage preparing the wood I’d be using for the project, the thumb on my left hand, worked up the courage to try and pick a fight with my table saw. Carelessness, distraction, fatigue, all possible causes for my lapse in concentration in keeping my meaty bits at safe distances from cutting edges.
Nonetheless, predictably, my poor thumb stood no chance against the carbide tipped teeth of my 10 inch table saw blade spinning as fast as the 1 horsepower motor can spin them. So after grabbing a handful of toilet paper in my bloody left mitten and wrapping it in the closest fabric object I could find laying around, a t-shirt hung over a chair in the kitchen. I was in the car and off to Rockingham Hospital to get sewn back together.
Pain killers, physio exercises and doctors appointments filled the rest of the month. silver lining being, I was able to spend it hanging out with the newest member of the Rowley Family.
Back next time with further catch up posts.
